Algona and Irvington Presbyterian Churches

The First Presbyterian Church of Irvington, Iowa is the completing half of the “Yoked” relationship  of our worshipping community. Irvington Presbyterian Church is a smaller, country church located just south of Algona in the quiet town of Irvington. The Irvington church, however, is very active in mission and has a thriving youth and children’s program. In addition to participating with the Algona church youth and children in fellowship activities, they send many kids to the Presbyterian Camp on Lake Okoboji each year and have education and fellowship programs for their children as well.

The church is active in various mission projects and there is always an opportunity to give of your time, talents, or treasures throughout the year. Worship services are at 8:30AM Sunday mornings. The church choir sings on selected Sundays throughout the year and members with musical talents often sing duets or solos.

The history of the church traces back to October 8, 1889 when the congregation was organized with 16 charter members gathering in the local school house. The church was built in 1891 and has served us well. The real story of this church, however, is told in the lives of its members. This close-knit group of family and friends is also very inviting to new members and looks to stay active and thriving for years to come.

Irvington is located five miles south of Algona, one mile to the east of Hwy 169 on County Road B55 (170th Street). We would love to have you come visit us!
